Understanding food allergies

Like humans, cats are susceptible to food allergies.

Common symptoms of food allergies in cats include vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive itching and skin inflammation. Food allergies can be easily diagnosed if your feline friend was recently exposed to a new food ingredient or a new brand of food.

Alternatively, a food trial can be implemented to diagnose the food allergy. You will be advised to feed your cat a special diet before introducing common food allergens (chicken, beef, diary, egg, fish) to the diet one at a time.

Upon identifying the food allergy affecting your cat, avoidance is the best strategy to keep your feline friend safe and healthy.
